Porn in Fashion advertising

Shai

And so the barriers just keep disintegrating. Here’s a couple of creative videos: The first is for fashion label Shai at Sexpacking. Amazingly they hired porn stars (Oksana d’Harcourt, Sébastien Barrio, Titoff, Gamal Simon, Sophie Moon and Zafira) to sell their clothes through an interactive site with videos you can download. As far as “porn” goes, it’s VERY well shot!!! The 2nd features super porn star Jenna Jameson promoting Adidas Adicolor

Grafuck

Grafuck is a book of erotic art created by a diverse group of international artists. “It started out with a curiosity for what might happen if artists and designers were asked to create work around a subject that many still find taboo. Plus, making naughty pictures is fun”. Right up our alley!!! Be sure to check the grafuck site for more info.

Here is a very funny video (courtesy of Saturday Night Live) about one of the most heinous denim crimes known to man – the Mom Jean.

dad1.jpg Details.com has an article about the fatal denim crime that men of a certain age are often guilty of – the Dad Jean (the male equivalent to the Mom Jean ). These are sky blue, slightly-high waisted, tapered leg jeans (see above) which should be avoided at all costs.

I would agree with this …

cm3.jpg Here is my prediction for 2008 – grungy denim. Your jeans are going to need to look like you dunked them in a bucket full of bleach to give them a patchy high-contrast fade. Just like the wannabe punks at my school used to do back in the early 80s. The grungy denim photos shown here come from the Cheap Monday Spring/Summer 2008 Collection. cm3.jpg

From the Dr…

Hello, family and friends!

I am writing you with great news:  one of my articles about Oscar Wilde has been republished in an international on-line source for Wilde scholars.  If you’d like to read the article (or just say you did!!), here is the link:

Original Post: Kate Moss Sculpture

famous model kate mossThe UK model Kate Moss will soon be a 3 meter high bronze sculpture in a contorted yoga pose. Marc Quinn will enlarge his previous version of Kate Moss, which was done last year, and will show it at the “Beyond Limits” sale at Chatsworth House in September.

Kate Moss must be starting to feel like she is a life drawing model, rather than the internationally famous fashion model that she really is. Notable artists that have turned Moss into art include Lucian Freud, Banksy, Marc Quinn, Alex Katz, and Julian Opie.

Marc Quinn says “There must be something about her that has clicked with the collective unconscious to make her so ubiquitous, so spirit-of-the-age.” Vogue

I also used a Kate Moss photo to test a morphing website here.

Artist Steven Campbell Dies

famous scottish artist steven campbellLast week the Scottish artist Steven Campbell died at just 54 years of age. After suffering from a ruptured appendix he developed septicaemia. The artist was in intensive care for about a month before passing away on the 15th of August, 2007.

Campbell’s wife told the Scotsman “He was like a 19th-century artist, like all the greats he loved. He believed, like them, that if you truly dedicate your life to art, and give it every ounce of your being, you will make a difference.” There’s more of a tribute published here.

Note: I couldn’t find Steven Campbell’s exact date of birth, but he was born in 1953. So, the BBC reports his age as 53 and the Scotsman newspaper reports his age as 54. Regardless, it’s still a very young age.

Campbell was referred to as one of the New Glasgow Boys, along with other famous painters like Ken Currie and Peter Howson.

There’s a portfolio of Steven Campbell paintings online at the Marlborough gallery in London here.
