M.I.A. has become rather fond of announcing major event sin her life live from the stage. In the past month alone, the three time URB cover girl has declared the size of her paycheck, her engagement, the cancelation of he European tour, and then finally this weekend, the end of her live performing career, claiming onstage at Bonnaroo that the gig was her “last show ever.” Because appearantly performing for a bunch of bikin-clad hippie co-eds is a real drag.

Doubters are already doubting the sincerity of the comment, pointing out that no one has really “retired” from performing since the Beatles and Brian Wilson. And given the current state of CD sales, artist today have no choice but to hit the road should they wish to earn a living wage. Here’s hoping shegets back on the horse.
