Monroe’s Last Nudes Lohan Redux
MONROE’S LAST NUDES LOHAN REDUX
Looking at the New York Magazine Nude Lohan prints, as an artist who’s taken many reference photoshoots, I felt the pictures only told half the story. I needed to see how they compared to the original Marilyn shots and which Marilyn photos were used for reference. Just seeing the Lohan photos didn’t give me any perspective.
I painstakingly (it was fun) went through the original Bert Stern / Monroe “the last sitting” shot-by-shot and figured out (to my best guess) which pictures he referenced for the Lohan shoot. (see below)

How Lohan was able to take poses and expressions that are fun and alive in 1962 and make them look so dull and contrived in 2008 is amazing. Probably the one time when a little champagne tumble off the sobriety wagon would have been a good career move. . .

This master painter, sculptor and illustrator from Strasbourg, France has the stylistic graphics that range from fashion, history, and advertising. Each illustrated compartment are very different. His portfolio is outstanding and pushes the envelope for the ability of illustrators to turn out more than just line and marker drawings.
Antoine Helbert’s portraits unleash a dark stare into the surreal surroundings of his models. He paints an ambiance so startling, you can’t help but stare. It should be no surprise that I relay he is also the scenic painter for Strasbourg’s Opera. His technique is oil on canvas for rich colors with eye-popping light sources.
His website contains a gorgeous collection of all his mediums and work. Antoine has created many posters for exhibitions, music festivals, and cultural events. He is a rising French star aiming high on his illustrative canvas of possibilities.
Artist: Megan Baker

Megan Baker has been taking photographs since she took hold of the Polaroid at age four. In addition to concert photography, Baker’s photo focus is on abandoned houses and small towns that have suffered economic distress. Decampment is an incredible series that takes us inside and out along this journey. The light, the colours, the mood – these photos linger. And we almost hate to bring this up, but Megan Baker happens to be sixteen-years-old.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Kimora Lee Simmons has already moved on, but she took steps to make it official by filing for divorce from her husband of seven years, entertainment mogul Russell Simmons.
Although the couple separated in March 2006, Kimora Lee Simmons just filed divorce papers Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court. The 32-year-old Baby Phat fashion designer and reality TV star cited irreconcilable differences.
She and Russell Simmons, 50, have two daughters: 8-year-old Ming Lee and 5-year-old Aoki Lee. Kimora Lee Simmons is seeking legal and physical custody of the children. She requested that Russell Simmons be granted “reasonable child visitation … accompanied at all times by the children’s nanny and security personnel.”
Russell Simmons co-founded Def Jam records and created Phat Farm clothing and HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam.”
Kimora Lee Simmons has been dating actor Djimon Honsou.
Kate Moss In Kate Moss TopShop Pinstripe Jeans via Denimology

via Denimology: A couple of days ago I posted a promotional shots of Kate Moss wearing a pair of jeans from her Spring/Summer 2008 collection for TopShop. And as if to prove that she does actually wear the clothes she designs here she is in the same pair of pinstripe jeans on a recent shopping trip to the Prada store in London.

Noted fashion and beauty photographer Warwick Saint has a small gallery of nudes in the Personal Work section of his website.

Vintage Portraits from the 1980s by Jeannette Montgomery Barron are the topic of an exhibition that opens today at ClampArt in New York. Barron captures some of the most significant artists of the time in moments of great calm that exude an intimacy, made even softer by the use of natural light. These are black and white photographs that the viewer wants to step into, into a place where there may be a chance to see the artist a little less cloaked.

One of the more interesting compilation projects of last year was the Buffet Libre Verbena Selected mixtape. The idea was to take some of the larger up-and-coming electronic acts and ask them to contribute one of their favorite songs into a full length piece produced by Buffet Libre. 15,000 downloads within less than 3 months later, they started thinking that maybe it might be time for a follow-up. Today I was sent the second compilation in their series, with tracks courtesy from everyone from Cut Copy to The Glimmers to Girl Talk. It’s really interesting to see what some of these groups picked as their songs.
Buffet Libre DJs – Verbena Selected 2

For another experiment, we have us the Verbena Rewind project, where the Buffet Libre DJ’s went around requesting a whole bunch of bloggers, including Pardon My Freedom, Get Weird Turn Pro, IHeartComix, D Squared and a whole lot of great music sources (including me ;oP) a single 80’s track for another mix. And the results are great, each saying a lot about the individual people who participated and how early music influenced them. It’s all very reflective. I chose “Six Different Ways” for my single because I’m a huge Cure fan and because that song is totally awesome. Compiled into a two part mixtape, there are separate files and tracklistings. Enjoy.
