Monroe’s Last Nudes Lohan Redux
MONROE’S LAST NUDES LOHAN REDUX
Looking at the New York Magazine Nude Lohan prints, as an artist who’s taken many reference photoshoots, I felt the pictures only told half the story. I needed to see how they compared to the original Marilyn shots and which Marilyn photos were used for reference. Just seeing the Lohan photos didn’t give me any perspective.
I painstakingly (it was fun) went through the original Bert Stern / Monroe “the last sitting” shot-by-shot and figured out (to my best guess) which pictures he referenced for the Lohan shoot. (see below)

How Lohan was able to take poses and expressions that are fun and alive in 1962 and make them look so dull and contrived in 2008 is amazing. Probably the one time when a little champagne tumble off the sobriety wagon would have been a good career move. . .

125 Magazine states that they are the only magazine in the world, which acts as a completely unbiased photography gallery, open to both emerging and established artists, and making affordable art available to all. That’s just awesome. Use the search field at the bottom left corner to search what you’re looking for (in this case, “sex” or “art”!).

It is not common when I encounter an artist and think, “Okay, I clearly don’t understand all the good things going on here, but there is more talent in front of me than I have the ability to comprehend.”

Agatha Moon: Italian Fetish Model

LINK quote [While attending my very first fetish party in London, I realized how attracted I was by the "choreography" of situations. I regret not having snaped a lot of fascinating details, like a thin cord winding slender wrists and the signs left on them. I find so amusing wearing latex and leather dresses, breath-taking corsets and high heeled shoes! It's like acting, playing a rôle. I can feel emerging a sort of alter ego, usually hidden behind the everyday natural make-up or under my jeans. I can explore my darkly glamorous persona. I love posing in fetish garments, acting out fantasies in front of the camera, recreating myself].

Full Story

School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents “Click Chic: The Fine Art of Fashion Photography,” an exhibition documenting the vitality of fashion photography as a vehicle for creative expression, formal experimentation and social commentary.
On view will be nearly 50 images by six emerging and established photographers based in New York who have created distinctive bodies of work in fashion: Roderick Angle, Guy Aroch, Maki Kawakita, Ryan Michael Kelly, Chiun-Kai Shih and Sarah Silver. With cultural reference points as rich and varied as Art Nouveau, Buddhism, film noir, modern dance and Japanese Kabuki theater, they have made fashion photography their primary practice, applying a conceptual and formal rigor traditionally associated with fine art.
“Because they’re originally conceived and created to appear in magazines and advertisements, fashion photographs are often considered disposable,” said exhibition curator Dan Halm. “I’m hoping to change that by highlighting some exceptional images that hold their own as works of art.”
Fashion has been fertile ground for innovative photography for decades, but the lines between fine art and commercial photography have blurred in recent years as more and more photographers have found an outlet in both realms. The 1990s saw a marked increase in advertising and editorial work by art-world mainstays like Cindy Sherman and Nan Goldin. “Click Chic” considers a group of formally-trained photographers who came of age since the 1990s and have worked mainly on commission for clients in the fashion industry.
The exhibition includes a selection of never-before-seen photographs created as personal work as well as images that have appeared in editorial features and advertising campaigns around the world. Both bodies of work engage the medium’s history and reflect contemporary developments in landscape, portraiture and still life photography.
I just stumbled onto this amazing illustrator, especially love the fashion illustration on her website - Marguerite Sauvage

Classy ultra fashion photographs by German born Rasmus Mogensen
Elegance and perversity as one. Ageing pin-ups, slain royals, debauched parties and fetishised designer labels Erwin Olaf brings his incisive wit and vision to create a satirical portrait of our contemporary consumer society. Visually sophisticated and conceptually provocative be sure to check his work out

And so the barriers just keep disintegrating. Here’s a couple of creative videos: The first is for fashion label Shai at Sexpacking. Amazingly they hired porn stars (Oksana d’Harcourt, Sébastien Barrio, Titoff, Gamal Simon, Sophie Moon and Zafira) to sell their clothes through an interactive site with videos you can download. As far as “porn” goes, it’s VERY well shot!!! The 2nd features super porn star Jenna Jameson promoting Adidas Adicolor
Grafuck is a book of erotic art created by a diverse group of international artists. “It started out with a curiosity for what might happen if artists and designers were asked to create work around a subject that many still find taboo. Plus, making naughty pictures is fun”. Right up our alley!!! Be sure to check the grafuck site for more info.
Original Post: Kate Moss Sculpture
The UK model Kate Moss will soon be a 3 meter high bronze sculpture in a contorted yoga pose. Marc Quinn will enlarge his previous version of Kate Moss, which was done last year, and will show it at the “Beyond Limits” sale at Chatsworth House in September.
Kate Moss must be starting to feel like she is a life drawing model, rather than the internationally famous fashion model that she really is. Notable artists that have turned Moss into art include Lucian Freud, Banksy, Marc Quinn, Alex Katz, and Julian Opie.
Marc Quinn says “There must be something about her that has clicked with the collective unconscious to make her so ubiquitous, so spirit-of-the-age.” Vogue
I also used a Kate Moss photo to test a morphing website here.

LINK quote [While we commend Diaz Arri and/or the staff at Barcelona's Agencia SIC for reminding us that glamour nude photography is about more things than just pert pairs of breasts or juicy asses stuffed into frilly lace panties—like proper oral hygiene—we needs must take issue with the fact that the exotic-looking model shown brushing her teeth in several photographs in the "Narrow Nudes" section (whatever that means) is doing so while kneeling at a bidet: all that crouching on a hard tile floor in front of a porcelain device ordinarily reserved for washing other parts can be murder on the knees].

Artist Statement :
My photography is more about the people than anything. Without the people, there are no photos. Over the past year I have been fortunate to meet and learn about some of the most real people possible. I’ve shot in multi-million dollar homes as well as the poorest project houses around. I learn from every experience. A thank you to those who I have met along the way, and for those I am yet to meet, I look forward to it.
Blessings
